POSEIDON at the Urban Forestry Network Conference: Integrating Communities into the Energy Transition

Join Yilmaz Vurucu from Wonderland (Austria) at the Urban Forestry Network Conference, titled Building Capacity for Urban Forest Management across Europe: Indicators, Knowledge, and Participation, taking place in Antalya, Türkiye – 27–30 April 2026.

In his presentation on behalf of Wonderland, Yilmaz will share insights from the POSEIDON project, demonstrating how communities and citizens can be meaningfully integrated into the energy transition.

Drawing on experiences from Urban Living Labs (ULLs), he will highlight the importance of a holistic, bottom-up approach; one that ensures longevity and sustainability in complex technical transformations.

Energy transition is not merely a technical challenge; it is deeply socio-cultural and political. Top-down approaches often overlook local knowledge, exacerbate disparities, and fail to address lived realities. True transformation requires communities as active agents, not passive recipients, in shaping their energy futures. The session will explore how participatory processes, artistic engagement, and co-creation can bridge gaps between policy, technology, and people.
