About us

Founded in 2002, Wonderland is a non-profit association working to make our built environments more inclusive, sustainable, and socially just. We love bringing people together—across professions, cultures, and borders—to exchange ideas, collaborate, and create positive change in how we live, move, and share space. Whether it’s through design, community work, or creative research, our approach is grounded in curiosity, care, and collaboration.

We believe real change happens when people are actively involved. That’s why participation is at the heart of everything we do. We explore how everyday experiences—like getting around town or accessing clean energy—are shaped by deeper social and environmental structures. Our projects look closely at mobility through the lens of gender and inclusion, and we work with communities to co-create energy solutions that are just, accessible, and locally driven. From encouraging greener choices in daily life to helping shape better policies, we’re all about supporting practical steps toward a more sustainable future—together.

Over the years, we’ve also come up with a few playful, hands-on formats to make these conversations more open and fun. Project Space is one of them—an on-the-ground workshop where people from different backgrounds team up to work on real challenges in real places. Then there’s Blind Date, where folks from different disciplines meet for the first time to talk shop and share ideas, with the local audience playing a key role in shaping the conversation. And with our pop-up film festival, Movies in Wonderland, we screen films about space, cities, design, and social issues, inviting everyone to join the conversation—no expert background needed.

In addition to all that, our team leads and contributes to research projects that we love sharing through exhibitions, publications, talks, and more. We also take part in EU-funded collaborations and support a growing network of creative minds across Europe working on similar issues.

This platform is where we share what we’re up to. It’s a space to explore our projects, get inspired, and maybe even jump in yourself. Got something to share or want to collaborate? Drop us a message through the contact form—we’d really love to hear from you.
