The event will combine several formats over the course of three days, including international lectures, panel discussions, and workshop presentations on the subject of Urban Brownfield Regeneration and the potential for generating new urban centers.
Brownfields in our cities not only constitute a huge potential for in-fill development but also enable the creation of vibrant new centralities and public spaces within the urban fabric. Sarajevo is such a case with more than 25 large-scale brownfield sites that are located in 5 minute walking distance of public transport.
In the framework of the Sarajevo Brownfield Project funded by EBRD, superwien urbanism and OSNAP in cooperation with Association of Architects of Bosnia & Herzegovina and Days of Architecture organize a series of public events to discuss the immanent potentials for Brownfield Development and Urban Regeneration of Sarajevo.

An increasing number of people are discovering possibilities and intervene in everyday urban life. A living room in the middle of the street, neighbourhood, community gardens. Town centres, repair cafés and tenants‘ initiatives arise from the niches of the cities – independently, self-determinedly and collectively.
Das Gegenteil von Grau / The Opposite of Gray shows different groups, who bring practical utopias and free spaces to live and fight for a solidary and ecological coexistence in the urban space.
