PED-EU-NET Conference “Energising Neighbourhoods”

Posted on: 23rd August 2024

The city of Linz will host a conference of the COST Action Positive Energy Districts European Network (PED-EU-NET) on September 2-3, 2024.

Themed “Energising Neighbourhoods: Reflection, Dialogue and New Perspectives,” the event will bring together over 100 participants, including researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders from across Europe, to reflect on the development of Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) and to discuss their future trajectory.

Jointly organised by the PED-EU-NET and the City of Linz, this closing conference marks the culmination of four years of collaboration, showcasing the network’s achievements and the progress made in transforming European urban areas into sustainable, energy-positive communities. As cities strive to become climate-neutral and environmentally friendly, PEDs play a crucial role in generating more energy than they consume through smart design, green technology, and community engagement.

wonderland's contribution to the conference

wonderland is hosting a workshop, which is dedicated to “Advocating Inclusive PEDs”. It will take place on September 2nd from 14:30-16:30 o’clock.

Led by Bahanur Nasya and Mengjie Han of PED-EU-NET, the workshop invites participants to explore key aspects of PED development, with a focus on fostering inclusivity. Through interactive sessions, attendees will discuss social, environmental, governance, and managerial challenges and propose strategies to create more community-centric and resilient PEDs.

wonderland will also present a poster on energy communities and share insights from the PED-ACT initiative. Through our involvement in discussions and workshops we want to enhance the collaboration and knowledge exchange to drive forward PED projects across Europe.

This final event in Linz offers a significant opportunity for stakeholders to exchange ideas, build on existing efforts, and pave the way for the future of Positive Energy Districts. As the PED-EU-NET project concludes, it leaves behind a legacy of strengthened networks and innovative solutions that will continue to energise European neighbourhoods for years to come.
