From 27 to 29 May 2026, the Fair Mobility Festival will gather researchers, activists, journalists, artists, planers, policymakers, and practitioners in Vienna and Ebensee to rethink mobility through the lens of equity, accessibility, and socio-spatial justice. This three-day event is a space for intersectional exchange, where the voices of women, gender minorities, and marginalized communities take center stage in shaping the future of mobility.
The event is within the framework of Fair Mobility, a project dedicated to centering socio-spatial justice in transport planning.
We are looking for your experience and expertise to exchange, collaborate and define next steps. Your findings and tools will enrich the justice dimension in mobility. Your recommendations will be shared with journalists and decision makers. Your ideas may form the basis for the next studies or projects.
By challenging car-centric norms and amplifying the lived experiences of those most affected by mobility gaps, Fair Mobility co-creates solutions that prioritize care, safety, and inclusion. Through participatory design, street experiments, and governance initiatives, the project demonstrates how mobility can be transformed from a technical challenge into a collective act of justice. Whether you’re exploring gendered mobility patterns, care-based travel needs, or inclusive urban planning, this festival is an opportunity to contribute to a movement that places fairness at the core of how we move.
Join us and take part in the exchange. Application deadline: May 06, 2026
a) Share your work
Are you working on a project that focuses on gendered mobility patterns, care-related travel needs, vulnerabilized user-groups, or participatory planning? We want to hear from you. Present your research or initiatives as visual poster, which will be featured in discussions, workshops, and the co-creation of recommendations for institutions and organizations. Your insights can drive meaningful change in how mobility systems are designed and implemented. To participate, submit a one-paragraph abstract (max. 300 words) and a draft of your poster pitching either the tools you deem important or recommendations to [email protected].
Selected posters will be displayed during the roundtable and exhibition walkthrough in Vienna on 27th and 28th May, where you will obtain the opportunity to engage with experts and shape the conversation. With your abstract, you will automatically be registered to the event and receive updates.
b) Pitch your ideas
Do you have a vision for a new research project or initiative? This is your platform to share it.
Present your ideas during our project pitching session on May 28 in Vienna, where you can explore funding opportunities and connect with collaborators equally as passionate about fair mobility transitions.
Whether your project addresses policy innovation, community-led design, or intersectional accessibility, this session is designed to turn ideas into action.
How to apply:
Send your project idea or the funding call you envision to work on to [email protected] so that we can create interest groups for the workshop. With your project pitch, you will be registered to the event and automatically receive updates.
