CALL FOR FILMS: ARCHITEKTUR.FILM.SOMMER 2018

Posted on: 25th January 2018

Deadline for Submissions: 28.02.2018

A cooperation by wonderland — platform for european architecture with Az W, and the MuseumsQuartier Wien.

For the sixth international open air architecture film festival in the courtyard of the Architekturzentrum Wien in August 2018, movies in wonderland is looking for documentaries, short films, experimental films and animated films on the topic ‘From Old Make New’.

The Architektur.Film.Sommer 2018 is dedicated to forward-looking housing and communal living. A particular focus is on the treatment of what already exists as well as the revitalisation of empty, even desolate infrastructure in urban and rural contexts. We are looking for films on residential and commercial buildings as well as public spaces involving innovative (new) uses for today and the future. Do the modern and postmodern Dwelling Machines still function? What happens to commercial premises that stand empty, and are there concepts for the environmental and social enhancement of the business parks and industrial estates engulfing the green belt? What are alternative and cooperative ways to finance revitalisation projects and potential, new, small-scale uses.

Positive examples should be as much a part of the film programme as examples of negligent maintenance or bad planning. The aim of the festival is to stimulate a broad discussion.
